Easter Eggs

I was so excited to dye Easter Eggs this year. I haven’t done it in a few years, but I found a link to this site on Pinterest and was inspired!

You may have noticed I said I WAS so excited. Past tense. Unfortunately it didn’t quite work out the way I wanted it to. My first attempt was to do the wax resist using actual melted wax. Unfortunately, the wax dried upon contact with the cold egg, and flaked right off. My second attempt was to use Elmers Glue, since it’s non-toxic, but it ran quite a bit, and took ages to dry (and then didn’t “resist” as much as I wanted anyway).

So I gave up on the dream of Ukranian Pysanky Eggs. My second technique attempt was slightly more successful. I used this method, but in addition to leaves and plants, I used a cut up doily and letter stickers. I’m not THRILLED, but a few of them turned out pretty cool!

Are you guys making Easter Eggs this year? Any success stories/photos you’d like to share?
