New Christmas Plates on Etsy

In addition to wedding planning, I’ve spent a lot of time the last few months making new pieces for a couple of local shows. In September, I did the Cooper Young Festival, which is always one of my biggest sales days of the year. Last weekend, I participated in an event called MemFix Cleveland, which was fun.

A lot of what I’ve been working on has been Christmas related. I’m so happy with how these turned out! Out of the five Christmas plates I made, 2 sold on Saturday. Here are the remaining three:

I’ve also made a few non-Christmas plates over the last few months:

I’m taking a break from plates now to work on some new Christmas ornaments. I’ll try to get a post up about those next week!

Wedding Cake Toppers!

I had this idea a while back, but I lost access to a kiln for a few months, so they had to wait. I’ve probably missed out on most of the wedding traffic for this year, but what can you do. I’m still really, really happy with how these turned out!

Oh, and any dreams I had of one day competing on Food Network Challenge, or opening my own bakery, have been dashed. I made a cake to use as a prop in taking these pictures (and to eat, obvs), and I did an ATROCIOUS job frosting it. Just awful. Crumbs everywhere, big holes where frosting should be… just awful. I think I managed to hide it in the pics. But it did taste good! (Lemon with white icing).

New Look in the Etsy Shop

No big projects in the last few weeks, because I’ve been working on updating my Etsy shop! I’d gotten tired of the look of the shop (and apparently so had the ceramics buying public, because sales are sluggish!), so I thought I’d take new pictures and give it a fresh look. What do you think?

Haven’t quite finished yet. Still need to photograph most of the jewelry, but it’s so time consuming, I’m doing it a little at a time.

I do have a BIG project on the horizon that I’ll be excited to post about. I’m building a new TV stand/entertainment center for the living room. The plans are done, I just need to go buy materials and get going. Hopefully you’ll start seeing posts on that in the next few weeks!

I just realized I never posted about the new espresso cups I recently listed in my Etsy shop! I’ve already sold a few, but there are still some cute ones left. I personally like the “sip” ones the best.

It’s been a while since I had something new in my Etsy shop, so I’m pretty excited about this! I think they go perfectly with the whole Colorblock trend that’s so big right now.

Let me know what you think!

Fun Stuff for Easter and Spring!

It’s gotten so warm here in Memphis, it really feels like Spring is upon us! Here is a collection of pretty things to make and buy this Spring.

1) I have to admit, I’m obsessed with Zara dresses right now. It seems like every dress I click on in Pinterest takes me to that beautiful site! I might have to find some time when I’m in Atlanta next month to stop by one of their stores and try some of them on. This one would be perfect for Easter Sunday!

2) Oh, Toms. I am so in love with these new flats! I can’t wait to find them in stores so I can try them on!!

3) This colorful wreath from FlightyFleurs on Etsy was sold just yesterday. If she doesn’t restock it, I bet you can DIY it with paper flowers and a pre-made wreath form!

4) Who but Martha could come us with this insanely decadent looking Chrysanthemum Cupcakes?! I think this is way above my cake decorating skills, but they’re just gorgeous, aren’t they? You can also click here for 12 other pretty Easter cupcake options.

5) Christine Chitnis explains how to dye Easter Eggs using all natural dyes. Such pretty, subtle colors! I wish I had seen this before buying supplies for my own Easter Egg project (coming soon!) While you’re checking out the egg dyes, be sure to look at the rest of her blog as well. It’s BEAUTIFUL.

6) There’s still time to order a beautiful Easter card from Etsy! I’d recommend this gorgeous letterpress number from Fine Day Press.

Retro Glasses Pillowcases – For Sale!

I first did a tutorial about how to make these Retro Eyeglass Pillowcases about a year ago. Since then, I’ve received a pretty steady string of request of people wanting to just buy them instead. Wanting to promote the DIY attitude, I encouraged people to make their own. But after several requests already this year, I figured I may as well just give in and start selling them too! So by popular demand, these pillowcases are now available in my Etsy store! They will be made to order, so please allow approximately a week between order and shipment.
