Photo Challenge Day 9 – Someone You Love

So, I’m cheating today (technically yesterday). The prompt for today’s picture was “Someone You Love.” I really wanted to take a picture of my mom, but she lives 7 hours away, so that wasn’t an option. You see, mom has been going through chemo for several months. Her last treatment was a few weeks ago, and yesterday she got the all clear from her doctor – no signs of cancer on her scans, and no further treatment is needed! YAY!!!

So, since I couldn’t take a picture of her, I’m just going to share a few of my favorite pics of her/us. I promise I’ll get back on track today.

I think this was her high school senior picture (or maybe college?) Isn’t she gorgeous?

Mom and Dad dancing at my brother’s wedding last month. I’m so lucky to have two parents who still love each other after so many years.

My favorite ladies. Mom, my sister Suzy, me and Aunt Cathy.

Mom and I in Disney World. I love this picture, because we are obviously exhausted, but happy.

 I love you, mom!

Photo Challenge Day 8 – Bad Habit

I guess I don’t consider the coffee itself a bad habit, but going to the coffee shop a few mornings a week instead of making it myself definitely qualifies. In addition to spending the money, it makes me even later for work than usual.

My first attempt at apple chips. They were an unmitigated disaster (burned the everloving crap out of them), but the photo is kind of cool.

Breakfast with my sister at Cafe Eclectic. Delicious coffee.

Photo Challenge Day 4 – Green

So, this was not my best week ever, thanks in large part to this green plate. It’s a custom order that I’ve been working on for about a week now, and when I took it out of the  kiln on Thursday, I discovered that it had cracked. So annoying, considering the amount of time and effort I had put into it.

So, not exactly a happy photo of the day, but I snapped it to send to my customer to give her an idea of what it would look like, and it is green, so there you have it. Sadness.

Cold, cloudy day in Memphis today. Perfect day to take a “clouds” shot!

Photo Challenge Day 2 – What You Wore Today

Instead of doing a whole outfit picture, I decided to take a pic of my favorite part. This head band was a gift from my friend Lori for my birthday this year. I LOVE it. I think it came from this Etsy shop: Gazzu.

Photo Challenge Day 1 – Self Portrait

So, not really big on the self portraits, but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. Here I am in my craft room after a long day at work (my real job, not fun, crafty work).

Photo taken using my DSLR and a tripod.

Photo Challenge – For Real This Time!

So, I first posted about this photo challenge back in May, but then totally flaked by the time June 1st rolled around. Each month since then, I’ve thought to myself, “ooh, self, you need to do that photo challenge starting on the first of next month!!” But then I’d inevitably forget until the 3rd or 4th of the following month, at which point I’d promise myself that NEXT month would be perfect.

Well, guess what! It’s November FIRST and I totally remembered! Go me! And November really is a good month to do it, because 1) it has 30 days and 2) there will be lots of holiday prep and beautiful fall days to photograph! So here’s the plan for the month. I’d love for you guys to participate too! If you do, be sure to post links to your blog/flickr stream/twitter account in the comments so I can follow along!

In addition to this, I will have LOTS of new stuff – mostly holiday decoration and gift ideas – coming up in the next few months. Stay tuned in a few days for a FANTASTIC no sew curtain project!
